My intention is to share concepts that make life work better
while also documenting my process of getting published on kindle. This first
concept has to do with timing...and letting up on ourselves when we think we
are not doing some task or project correctly, or fast enough..
You know how it can seem like you “missed the boat” with
things?
I have been “missing the boat”
since early life. Back in the 60s I wasn’t going to look like every other young
hippie wannabe by growing my hair long and all. So, I got into the flowing
tresses and street-sweeping skirts, just as my peers were moving on to
“dressing for success.” Over time, I have been an outlier on all sorts of
trends and often, it seemed like it was because I just didn’t get going fast
enough.
For a while now, I have been
feeling the “itch” to reach out bigger with what I have learned in more than
forty years as a teacher, counselor,
coach, workshop leader and energy worker. But life kept getting in the
way. I have two vibrant face-to-face
“gigs”:
- A part-time slot at a local mental health clinic and..
- my budding and blooming private practice that is morphing from ordinary counseling to GO-Team Coaching and Energy Work ...the concepts and approaches I want to share more widely.
Each of my clients inspires me...
and invigorates me... I am so blessed and honored to work with these folks.
I thought I would create a blog.
And then turn the posts into a book.
But clients, dog walks, dishes..
you know how it is... I was not getting to it.
Finally, the other day.. I started
reading books I’d accumulated about getting published on Kindle. And, I saw that that, for once, I had not
“missed the boat”...quite the contrary. While I was busy elsewhere, others had
been dealing with all the ups and downs of a new field. I read about the money
to be made... and the ease of Ebooks compared to traditional publishing.
However, I also read about folks getting their accounts closed as Amazon
tightened up their guidelines.. the inscrutability of Amazon’s “SEO”
technology... etc.
I realized that just this spring
a number of top notch trainings have come out that cut through mounds of red
tape for newcomers to EBook Publishing.
The conclusion: it was better to
wait to publish in this new field.. and let other industrious
author/entrepreneurs discover the pitfalls and invent the systems.
“Missed the boat?” Not in this
case!!... I’m thinking this is just the right time to get into Kindle
Publishing... for me..and maybe for you, too.
I plan to recommend some of the
trainings I find (some for an affiliate
cut for me.. some not) and summarize some of their suggestions ... so your learning curve might be even shorter
than mine.
And... maybe it’s time to see if
the same concept applies to other stuff we’ve been beating ourselves up about
“not getting to yet.” What da a say?
